Major phone makers are joining the more competitive battle nowadays. With the new models of smartphones that introduce a bunch of useful features, the companies are starting to develop applications and sell it through their application online store. What happens today is that BlackBerry App World overthrows Android and Nokia.

The figures show that BlackBerry App Store attains the second place in mobile app store revenue after Apple’s App Store. With Apple being on the first place, it invites argument whether the Apple’s mobile dominance is so irresistible.

According to HIS report, Apple holds great power in the market of application sales. Although BlackBerry stands on the second place, this company beats Android and Nokia.

Many younger users are actually going for options between iPhone and BlackBerry devices. Apparently, the figures expose that iPhone users purchase and download the most applications. This makes the second place of BlackBerry far down from Apple’s although there are more BlackBerry users downloading more applications once they become accessible.

Well, the Apple and BlackBerry users and apps sales don’t show specific correlation especially through their apps store. However, this fact sends pretty clear message about Apple’s dominance in the today’s market. The details include the 82 percent of all revenue obtained from Apple App store at the first place and it earns more than $1.78 billion in 2010, whereas BlackBerry achieves 7 percent and $165 million.

Besides, as the world’s most used mobile operating system, Android’s applications are downloaded in around 350,000 apps per day, but this doesn’t make Android Market significantly improved since it still stands far behind other major players. Android is placed even behind Nokia.

On the other side, with BlackBerry, Nokia and Android users purchasing and downloading more applications are growing from year to year, iPhone users are unfortunately slowing down. If this situation keep continuing, iPhone’s first place position can be at stake in the future while other devices may leapfrog it.

The current’s figures that show iPhone dominance can further change knowing that Nokia and Microsoft’s plan to close the deal and the Windows Phone Marketplace and the Ovi Store become mutual. But, it arouses prediction that merger can possibly hit the BlackBerry maker Research in Motion more than the Apple.

As major players, iPhone, BlackBerry, Nokia, or Android never stop struggling to spoil their users through many applications which are downloadable and purchasable through their app stores in order to hold the highest dominance on the market.
